Company Profile 

Underbelly is a UK based live entertainment company. Our vents and festivals division operates one of the largest operations at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, selling over 460,000 tickets for over 200 shows, in 22 venues over 25 days in 2018. 

2019 marks the eleventh year of Underbelly Festival on the Southbank - one of the biggest multi-arts offerings in London and London’s original pop-up festival, with over 140 shows programmed over 6 months on the South Bank. 

Underbelly also produces Edinburgh’s Hogmanay, Edinburgh’s Christmas, Christmas in Leicester Square, Underbelly Festival in Hong Kong and West End Live in Trafalgar Square for Westminster City Council and the Society of London Theatre. 

In 2018 Underbelly sold over 1.5 million tickets to their various events. 

Purpose of The Role

You would be responsible for overseeing the counter staff (between 1 - 12 staff depending on venue), their floats and balancing all tills. There is also a lot of liaising with ride operators with regards to ticketing for their rides, and you’ll be the first point of call for resolving any issues with difficult or unhappy customers.

Person Specification

You should be extremely friendly and be able to stay calm in sometimes busy and difficult situations. You should have excellent customer service skills as well as be highly computer literate and able to troubleshoot computer errors. Cash handling experience is essential.  You should be a self-motivated individual who is happy to manage a team of staff in a busy, fast paced environment to ensure their welfare needs are met alongside the smooth and efficient running of the box office.  Previous festival experience is desirable, but not essential.

Terms & Conditions 

This role is a fixed term contract, from the 11th of November 2019 – 6th of January 2020 inclusive.  You should be available to work for the full period on a full-time basis.  We work to a 6 day week during the festival, so you can expect 1 day off a week.  A full time working week is on average 40-45 hours although some days may be longer at the beginning of the festival where set up is required.  

Staff Training takes place on the 12thof November and is compulsory.  

Pay for this role is £10 per hour, which will be paid fortnightly for the duration of the contract.  You will need to be over 18 and find your own accommodation within Edinburgh as we do not provide any staff accommodation.You have to commit to working New Year's Eve daytime and evening. You may be required to work Christmas Eve, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
