Front of House Staff and Supervisors
FRONT OF HOUSE STAFF
The Front of House Team are responsible for getting audiences to the right venue, troubleshooting, making sure shows start on time, ushering queue management and being friendly to all members of the public. You work closely with the Box Office Team and like them, meet lots of people and therefore must be a strong communicator. Front of House are the eyes and ears of the venue. They patrol all areas to make sure audiences are getting to where they need to be on time and ensure venues are clean and running smoothly. As well as this, you are there to answer any questions that either public or performers may have. You should be friendly, confident, good with people and able to organise large numbers of people. You may be working our Spiegeltent, Santa Land or Santa’s Grotto venues and as such will be required to dress in costume. There’s no sitting at desks involved in the job so you should be good on your feet, have a confident manner and big voice, and be willing to scramble to action at a moments’ notice.
Dates of work: 14 November 2018 – 10 January 2019 inclusive.
CONDITIONS: You have to commit to working New Year's Eve daytime and evening. You may be required to work Christmas Eve, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. If you are unable to work any of these days, please let us know at time of application. This role is paid hourly at £7.83 per hour, regardless of your age. You should be able to work for the entire period. You will need to be over 18 and find your own accommodation within Edinburgh as we do not provide any staff accommodation.
FRONT OF HOUSE SUPERVISORS
We also need Front of House Supervisors to oversee staff in each of our venues. You will be responsible for co-ordinating all staff, their breaks and rotas, as well as technical staff to ensure the running of all performance spaces is on time. You will be required to deal first hand with customer problems and issues and resolve them in an efficient and friendly manner. Experience in a theatre environment and with some health and safety training and staff management is preferred for these roles.
