24 December - St Andrew’s & St George’s West Church

11am - 4pm

St Andrew’s Church, now St Andrew’s and St George’s West Church, was the first church to be built in the New Town.  It is a fine Georgian building which retains many original features, including an ornate, gilded plasterwork ceiling and an elaborate chandelier.

In 1843, St Andrew’s Church witnessed ‘the Disruption’ when a section of the Church of Scotland broke away to form the Free Church.

‘Advent Door’ visitors will enjoy a very special event:  The Edinburgh Christmas Tree Festival.  Experience the sight and scent of 35 sparkling Christmas trees, hand-decorated by local businesses and charities.  Free, donations welcome.

Visit the St Andrew's and St Geroge's West Church's website for more information.
