9 December - Augustine United Church

10am - 3pm

Augustine United Church is a richly diverse, progressive Christian congregation of the United Reformed Church. Our four-storey building rises up from the Cowgate and culminates in an elaborate tower (possibly inspired by the Giralda tower of Seville Cathedral) that earned the church the nickname of ‘the bridescake’ when it was opened in 1861. Stained glass by Robert Burns (1869—1941) is another special feature. In 2016, brand new multimedia resources were created to retell our story and celebrate our community.
